Doniphan County District Court operates from the historic courthouse at 120 East Chestnut Street in Troy. County history says the present courthouse was built in 1906, is the fourth courthouse to serve Doniphan County in Troy, and is an example of Romanesque influence on Kansas government buildings. George P. Washburn designed it, J.H. Wagenknecht of Wathena received the construction contract, and the courthouse was dedicated July 4, 1906. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.
